My Hidden Gem

The best thing about living in NYC is that there are endless opportunities to find great restaurants.  The streets that I think I know so well, surprise me regularly with their hidden gems.  Piccolo Cafe, in New York City, have 4 locations all throughout Manhattan.  Piccolo, meaning small in Italian, literally describes their cafe- with (my guesstimate) of seating for about 18 per cafe.  The atmosphere is great, very rustic and warm inside with an old school Italian theme.

This sandwich has a bunch of my favorite ingredients: Warmed focaccia filled with arugula, prosciutto cotto (cured ham), truffle pate and drizzled with some olive oil!

Here’s a close up picture, so you can see all the goods.

That brown ‘sauce’ you see is the truffle pate.  I was very pleased that it was on both sides of the focaccia, because I can never get enough of it!  Needless to say, I loved this panini!!
